USA Accuses China of Conducting Nuclear Tests in 2020

The US has officially accused China of conducting a secret nuclear test during the 2020 pandemic.

The US delegation at the disarmament conference in Geneva presented evidence indicating that a nuclear explosion with energy release took place on June 22, 2020.

Washington claims that Beijing took advantage of the global lockdown and the weakening of international controls to test new technologies at the Lobnor test site.

The Chinese military command used special methods to conceal seismic activity in order to neutralize the work of international monitoring systems.

Such actions directly violate the moratorium on nuclear testing and undermine the global security architecture.

The US views this incident as part of China’s strategy to rapidly build up its strategic arsenal in a complete lack of transparency.

This scandal erupted at a critical moment, when the New START treaty, which had limited the nuclear ambitions of the US and Russia for decades, expired.

The loss of the last deterrent mechanism creates a dangerous vacuum, so the White House is using accusations against Beijing as the main lever to create a new multilateral agreement.

US diplomats insist that any future arms control is impossible without the involvement of China, which is currently demonstrating the most dynamic pace of expansion of its ‘nuclear triad.’

Beijing traditionally rejects all suspicions and calls US statements ‘false narratives.’ At the same time, independent observers from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization have not yet detected any signals that would unequivocally confirm the fact of the explosion.
