The United States has tested Rampage surface drones by launching Skelmir S6 underwater drones.
Havoc said it has joined forces with Lockheed Martin and Vatn Systems to develop maritime unmanned systems.
The tests involved three Rampage surface drones from Havoc, integrated with a Lockheed Martin user interface and Vatn Systems’ Skelmir S6 unmanned underwater vehicles.
The systems carried out three mission scenarios: a coordinated underwater attack, a surface strike and battle damage assessment.
“Cooperation with Havoc allows us to rapidly deliver capabilities to engage targets when and where needed,” Vatn Systems said.
Vatn Systems produces two types of torpedo-like drones — the Skelmir S6 and Skelmir S12.
The Skelmir S6 weighs about 25–27 kg, has a diameter of 15 cm and can carry a payload of 5–9 kg. It can reach speeds of up to 20 knots, has a range of about 37 km and can operate at depths of up to 100 meters.
A single operator can control multiple drones simultaneously using a dedicated plugin for the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK).
Each Skelmir S6 can be equipped with munitions, electronic warfare payloads or reconnaissance sensors without complex integration with the carrier platform.
Rampage surface drones can carry various payloads for multi-domain missions across the electromagnetic spectrum.
“The Rampage unmanned system is designed to be easily configured with a range of kinetic strike payloads, including launch systems for aerial platforms,” Havoc said.
Last year, Metal Shark and Havoc announced a partnership to integrate an autonomous control platform into the HSMUSV fleet of unmanned surface vessels.
