A US reconnaissance aircraft conducted a mission near Murmansk, Russia, on August 28th, according to data from Flightradar24.
The operation was carried out by a Boeing RC-135V Rivet Joint of the US Air Force.
Equipped with advanced sensors and antennas, the RC-135V is designed to detect, intercept and analyze electronic signals over long distances.
The aircraft entered the area through Norwegian airspace and performed several monitoring circles off the coast of Russia’s Murmansk region.
The flight originated from the US Air Force base at Mildenhall in the United Kingdom.
Recently, Russian fighter jets intercepted a US P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft over the Black Sea. That aircraft was equipped with a classified radar module.
