The United States is preparing to announce one of the largest military aid packages in the form of arms contracts, in particular Patriot and NASAMS SAM missiles for Ukraine.

This became known to Politico.

The cost of this package will be about six billion dollars, it will be provided under the USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative) program, within which the US government orders new weapons from manufacturers.

According to the American publication, the provision of this aid will be officially announced on Friday, April 26, during a meeting in the Ramstein-format.

The package will be financed from the recently adopted law on assistance to Ukraine from the United States.

According to one official and person familiar with the plans, it will include missiles for Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems, artillery rounds, ammunition for HIMARS, drones, anti-drone weapons and air-to-air missiles that will be fitted on fighters. Probably we are talking about F-16 combat aircraft, which should begin to arrive in Ukraine this year.

It is expected that these weapons will arrive in Ukraine within several years.

Since the money is allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), within which US defense companies receive contracts from the US government to manufacture new weapons for Ukraine, rather than attracting available US Army supplies.

As previously reported, on April 24, the United States government announced a $1 billion military aid package to Ukraine.

It contains, in particular, RIM-7 missiles, AIM-9M, Stinger MANPADS and Javelin and TOW anti-tank systems and AT-4 hand grenade launchers, artillery rounds of 155mm and 105mm caliber, ammunition for HIMARS MLRS, mortar rounds of 60mm caliber.

Among the equipment that is planned for transfer: Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, MRAP armored vehicles, as well as HMMWVs.

They should also transfer high-precision aircraft ammunition, airfield equipment, anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, night vision devices, spare parts, field equipment, training ammunition, etc.
