The United States on Tuesday, July 25, plans to announce the provision of a new military assistance package worth up to $400 million to Ukraine.
This was reported by Reuters, citing American officials.
The package will contain primarily ammunition for artillery, anti-aircraft missiles and armored vehicles.
It is expected that anti-aircraft missiles to the Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems will be transferred, which are now in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The new tranche of security support for Ukraine will also include several Stryker wheeled armored personnel carriers, mine clearance equipment and rocket-propelled ammunition for HIMARS artillery missile systems.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive anti-tank weapons, in particular, TOW and Javelin missiles, as well as portable Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS).
The publication notes: this time there is no question about the supply of cluster munitions.
The new tranche will be provided through the Presidential Drawdown Authority mechanism, which allows the transfer of weapons and equipment from US Army depots.
This package of American security support is still being finalized, and its contents may change.
As previously reported, the US Department of Defense has announced a new package of military assistance to Ukraine with a total cost of $1.3 billion.
It is provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which envisages the purchase of weapons in industry, and not the withdrawal from the reserves of the American army.
The package includes four NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles to them. 152mm artillery rounds, TOW anti-tank missiles and precision-guided munitions will also be transferred.
