The US has postponed the promised strikes on power plants and energy infrastructure due to “very good and productive negotiations regarding a complete and comprehensive settlement.”

This was stated by US President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Prior to this, he had threatened to ‘destroy’ Iran’s energy infrastructure if Iran did not ‘open’ the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.

“If Iran does not FULLY open WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz within 48 HOURS from this moment, the United States of America will strike and destroy its various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE LARGEST!” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform on Saturday, March 21.

At the same time, Iran rejected any dialogue with the US, dismissing President Donald Trump’s statements as an attempt to lower energy prices, which have skyrocketed amid the war in the Middle East. This was reported by European Pravda citing the pro-government Iranian agency Mehr News.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that there is no dialogue between Washington and Tehran, and that the US president’s statements “were made as part of efforts to lower energy prices and buy time to implement his military plans.”

In response, Trump rejected this information, stating that peace envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spoke with their Iranian counterparts on Sunday evening. He did not name the Iranian officials who participated in the talks, but said that it was not Mojtaba Khamenei, who was officially appointed Iran’s supreme leader earlier this month. According to him, they had no contact with him and do not know if he is even alive.

“We will hold a meeting today,” Trump said, specifying that it would take place over the phone. He predicted that the war could end within the next five days if the talks ‘go well.’

He added that either Iran would agree to a deal, or “otherwise we will simply continue bombing, sparing no effort.”

It was recently reported that US Department of Defense officials have conducted detailed preparations for a possible ground invasion of Iran.

High-ranking military commanders submitted specific requests aimed at preparing for such a scenario. In particular, the military held meetings regarding actions to be taken in the event of the possible capture of Iranian military personnel or members of paramilitary groups, should the president decide to deploy ground forces—specifically, where exactly they would be sent.
