The US Department of Defense has ordered equipment for the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine.
This is reported on the official website of the Department of Defense.
The contract was signed with Advanced Navigation and Positioning Corp, which will manufacture the equipment in Hood River, Oregon.
The signed contract, worth $14.3 million, is scheduled to run until 30 September 2025, after which the equipment will be transferred to Ukraine.
As part of this order, Ukraine will receive two transportable transponder landing instrument systems with associated Conex and trailers with spare components for the aircraft.
It should be noted that maintaining Ukraine’s F-16 fleet is very important, as it requires constant and high-quality maintenance and appropriate equipment.
The new equipment will allow for repair work, as well as inspection of aircraft systems at the airfield and repairs.
In addition to the United States, the Netherlands is providing spare parts and equipment for maintenance and repair of Ukrainian F-16s worth €80 million.
The quantity and specific names of materials in this transfer are not reported. “This is for operational security,” the minister explains.
The timing of the delivery of the aid is not disclosed, except for the intention to deliver it as soon as possible.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that Ukraine would receive another batch of Danish F-16 fighters by the end of this year.
The minister did not name the number of aircraft planned for delivery or the exact time frame due to security restrictions, but only outlined delivery dates.
