The US Army has tested Ukrainian long-range kamikaze drones used to strike Russia.

This is reported by The War Zone with reference to the US Defense Innovation Unit.

As part of the Artemis project, which focuses on the development of a kamikaze attack drone, the US Army tested unknown Ukrainian kamikaze drones.

Information about the companies participating from Ukraine is unknown, but the publication notes that they position their own achievements in cooperation with the American companies Auterion and Swan, which are directly involved in the project.

One of the most important conditions in the development is a high level of protection against electronic warfare, a low price for mass deployment, and a range of 300 km.

According to the U.S. Defense Innovation Office, about 165 proposals from a large number of companies that presented their products were evaluated, most of which were tests.

Now, according to the new phase, prototypes are to be developed in accordance with the terms of reference defined by the Artemis project by the end of 2025.

It should be noted that most of the details of this project are unknown, but among the available information is that:

“The final Artemis capabilities will be ground-based, affordable, unilaterally launched UAV platforms that operate at ranges of 50 to 300 km+ (31-186+ miles), launch quickly and efficiently, navigate at low altitudes, carry a variety of payloads, be rapidly updated and upgraded, and operate in interference, outage, continuous and bandwidth-limited environments, and in environments without access to a global satellite navigation system.”

It should be noted that a feature of this platform is the ability to use a variety of payloads, which increases the range of targets and, in theory, will allow the use of different homing heads to solve a large number of tasks.

In addition, this platform can also be used for both reconnaissance and target simulation to reset enemy air defense systems.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that, according to The Wall Street Journal, American defense startups had joined forces with Ukrainian manufacturers to create better drones for the US military.

Ukrainian manufacturers have mastered mass production of drones despite limited resources and are looking for new customers and capital. Now both sides are working together, and this cooperation is attracting the attention of the US Department of Defense.
