The United States Air Force has received the 100th KC-46A Pegasus refueling aircraft from Boeing.
The company announced this on its social media pages.
The Americans use these refueling aircraft to deploy their combat aircraft and missions around the world.
“Fueled up to 100! With the double delivery of the KC-46, the Pegasus fleet now has 100 aircraft. Thank you, U.S. Air Force, for your continued partnership and congratulations on this achievement,” Boeing shared.
According to the report, the company handed over two new KC-46A Pegasus to the military at once.
At the end of November, Boeing announced that 183 KC-46A multi-role refueling aircraft have been ordered or delivered worldwide, providing enhanced capabilities for the joint forces and allies.
The U.S. Air Force has already received 100 of these aircraft, six to Japan and four to Israel.
The Americans have also ordered 15 additional Pegasus refueling tankers. The new contract is worth $2.47 billion.
The KC-46A is based on the Boeing 767 jet airliner. It was chosen to replace the old KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft. The US Air Force received the first aircraft in January 2019.
The US Pegasus has more than 150,000 flight hours, indicating a high level of utilization during training, operational flights, and deployments.
Israel also plans to strengthen its air fleet with two additional Boeing KC-46A aircraft. They will be in addition to the four aircraft already ordered.
At the end of winter 2025, Boeing suspended deliveries of Pegasus refueling tankers after discovering cracks in the design of two of the four new aircraft intended for the United States. As a result, the American manufacturer announced an inspection of all aircraft of this type that have already been delivered.
