Unknown drones disrupted the operation of Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which is located near the village of Märsta, 42 km north of Stockholm.

According to the Swedish newspaper, the alarm was lifted after drones were spotted flying over the runway and terminal.

It is reported that a total of four drones had been found carrying out unknown activities.

As a result of the incident, planes en route to the airport were diverted to Skavsta and Landvetter, where they landed safely.

According to official sources, neither the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration nor Swedavia knows what type of drone was flying over the airport.

The incident occurred at 2 a.m., and the airport suspended plane arrivals around 3:30 a.m.

“We suspect this was a deliberate act, but I cannot answer the purpose,” said police spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.

Additionally, police told Swedish media that before reports of drones over the airport had begun to come in, at around 11:00 p.m. local time, there had been information that drones had flown over the center of Uppsala.

“We have received reports from both individuals and the police that several objects have been spotted, which are likely drones,” Tobias Ahlén Svalbro, a spokesman for the Mitt region police, tells Ekot.

The police are currently investigating the incident and trying to find out the purpose of these flights.
