In France, an unidentified drone was tracking the movements of Leclerc main battle tanks, according to Le Monde.
The incident occurred during the night of November 11–12 at the railway station in Mulhouse.
According to the prosecutor’s office, at 11:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday, a police officer reported a drone flying over the local police station.
The officer did not see the aircraft but, based on the sound, detected at least two flights back and forth.
A few minutes later, the drone was spotted over the railway station where a train carrying Leclerc tanks returning from exercises was parked.
According to a security guard, the drone, which had no lights, flew over the area where the military convoy was stationed before disappearing in an unknown direction.
The investigation is currently focused on identifying the drone’s pilot.
In addition, on the evening of Monday, November 10, an illegal drone flight took place over the Eurenco group’s plant in Bergerac, France, where gunpowder for artillery charges is produced. The prosecutor’s office has also launched an investigation into this incident.
Over the past few months, several European countries have reported increased activity of unidentified drones flying over important facilities and infrastructure sites.
This has even led to the temporary closure of airspace in countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Sweden.
Recently, members of the German armed forces arrived in Belgium at the country’s request to help combat unidentified drones.
