In France, unknown perpetrators executed a series of arson attacks that damaged electrical infrastructure, disrupting operations at defense industry facilities.

According to Franceinfo, multiple fires broke out during the night of April 6–7 in the areas of Bourges, La Chapelle-Saint-Ursin, and Saint-Florent-sur-Cher, damaging transformers and power lines.

As a result, more than 3,000 households were left without electricity, including defense industry facilities such as MBDA and KNDS, where, among other things, ammunition, shells, and Caesar artillery systems are produced.

Power supply was restored around 7:00 a.m., but according to local authorities, full restoration of the network will require several months of work. French police are investigating the incident as a coordinated attack.

Arson attacks targeting enterprises and electrical infrastructure in Europe have significantly increased since 2022. Such actions most often occur near defense facilities that manufacture weapons and are involved in supporting Ukraine.

Despite attempts to operate covertly, some perpetrators have been detained by police. For example, in October 2025, authorities in Latvia uncovered a criminal group that was preparing arson attacks on defense and infrastructure sites on behalf of Russian intelligence services.

The suspects planned and carried out a deliberate arson attack in the fall of 2023 on a facility belonging to a private company involved in a defense project.

Additionally, in August 2025, unknown individuals set fire overnight to Bundeswehr service vehicles parked in Kassel, Germany. The vehicles were completely destroyed.

At the same time, Germany’s Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD) reported that the number of Russian espionage operations and acts of sabotage in Germany has doubled over the past year.

Russian intelligence services are acting increasingly aggressively, using tactics reminiscent of the Cold War era and expanding their range of methods. The agency also noted that saboteurs increasingly target German Navy ships.

Militarnyi previously reported that, in addition to service vehicles, Russian operatives in Germany set fire to a parking area with Bundeswehr military trucks at a military facility in Erfurt.
