Units armed with loitering munitions will be created in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Units armed with loitering munitions (also known as a suicide drones or kamikaze drones) will be created in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), reports Militarnyi.
The Command of the Ukrainian Land Forces considers that it’s necessary to develop and improve the forms and methods of using unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) and robotic systems, ArmyInform reports.
As well as to increase the capabilities of electronic warfare units and to implement a system of network-centric warfare, to increase the ability of troops to conduct contactless combat operations.
Information Agency of the Ministry of Defense notes that the command and control authorities of the Land Forces has been transferred to a new organizational structure that excludes duplication functions at all levels.
“For our development, we have identified the following main directions: improving organizational structures, building up combat capabilities, increasing the number of military units, developing forms and ways of using the Land Forces, improving the system of training, further development of the system of territorial defense of the state, developing the system of logistics support, building military infrastructure,” − said Commander of the Ukrainian Land Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi during a speech at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. National Security”.
It is bet on the creation of units of loitering munitions and unmanned combat aerial complexes as part of combat brigades.
It is planned to form the required number of separate radio-technical battalions in the air defense system of the Land Forces, to complete the formation of anti-aircraft missile regiments armed with effective tactical anti-aircraft missile systems, to continue rearming with new and modernized weapons.
The main directions of training for Air Defense Troops of the Land Forces is the counteraction against enemy air attack assets and the reducing effectiveness of the unmanned aerial systems use.
Ukrainian kamikaze drone “Grim” has passed flight tests
Last month, the Ukrainian military strengthened dangerous areas of the border deploying of the “Bukovel-AD R4” electronic warfare complexes developed by Proximus LLC.
This complex is designed to disrupt the UCAV’s missions by radio-electronic impact on its avionics. The strengthening occurred due to the situation along the borders of Ukraine with the Republic of Belarus.
