The United Kingdom has announced a funding plan to build new factories for producing ammunition and explosives.

The program will support the creation of up to six industrial sites across the country through a grant scheme, according to the UK Defence Journal.

The first application window is expected to open between July and September 2026, with further funding rounds planned throughout 2027.

Each application period will last about three months, allowing companies to submit proposals for building new production facilities.

Any company can participate, even if it has no prior experience with the ministry or involvement in the 2025 research projects.

Funding for a single proposal is capped at $56 million or 50% of the total project cost. The final allocation of funds will depend on the assessment of economic feasibility and approval of the complete business model for the construction.

The plan is based on the results of previous technical and economic studies announced by the ministry at the end of 2025. The new initiative aims to provide the British Army with a steady supply of domestically produced ammunition.
