Two bullets fired by Russian snipers collided with each other in the air and this saved the Ukrainian soldier, Militarnyi reports.

While observing the terrain, a pair of Russian shooters discovered a Ukrainian serviceman in a forest plantation due to thermal imaging optics, and simultaneously fired shots in the same interval of time.

The unexpected collision of two bullets changed their flight trajectory, which saved the fighter.

According to the invaders, shots were fired from a distance of 644 meters: 602 meters to forest plantations and another 42 meters deep into the forest. The wind speed was 3-6 meters per second.

Two .338 Lapua Magnum sniper rifles and rounds with a bullet weight of 285 grain were used for the shots.

The 338 Lapua Magnum (8.6 × 70 mm) cartridges are designed as a precision munition for long-range firing.

The development of the cartridge was aimed at creating an ammunition with ballistics, which would allow the predicted firing on the “growth target” at a distance of up to 1,800 m.

Today, this type of ammunition is widely used in most of the world’s armies as a precision munition in a niche between 7.62mm rifles and 12.7mm anti-materiel rifles.
