Volunteers from Rivne established the production of various mockups for the Ukrainian military.

The Apate NGO representatives stated that first of all, they primarily fulfill orders for 120mm mortar models.

Volunteers receive hundreds of requests from various units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Apate’s mockup catalog includes models of 2B9 Vasilyok 82mm automatic mortars, Starlink terminals, and American Sentinel radars.

“It will be possible to move the Starlink hardware in the right direction. The plate is white and camouflaged if necessary,” volunteers say.

The mockups correspond to 90-100% of the size of real equipment and weapons.

They are made of wood, metal, and plastic. Unlike inflatable layouts, they do not change their shape or size depending on weather conditions.

A 120mm mortar mockup can be used to disguise military equipment and misleading the enemy in combat conditions.

“Our goal is to provide layouts for each brigade, each unit with at least one battery. Orcs should spend the maximum of their ammunition on Apate,” said volunteers from Rivne.

Layouts are required to create ground-based combat positions and location areas.

This allows misleading for the purpose of exposing the enemy, counter-battery warfare, depletion of weapons, ammunition, forces and provision of the enemy, simulating the concentration of military equipment, and changing the enemy’s plans.

Recall that in 2023, to deceive Russian intelligence, the Ukrainian military received mockups of Leopard 2 tanks.
