Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took control of the village of Apanasovka, Korenevsky district, the Kursk region.
The press service of the Ukrainian Navy published the video.
The video shows marines of the 501st Separate Naval Infantry Battalion tearing down a Russian flag in a village that was identified by X users.
Apanasovka is a small village with a population of less than two hundred people. The village is part of the Komarovo village council municipality.
Before that, the village was in the gray zone, but now it is under the control of Ukrainian troops.
The rapid advance of Ukrainian troops in this area can be linked to the methodical destruction of bridges over the Seim River, which cut off part of the Kursk region.
On August 16, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed the bridge over the Seim River in the village of Glushkovo.
This bridge, along with two others located near the villages of Zvannoye and Karyzh, are the only road bridges over the Seim River in the area. Besides them, there is also one railway bridge.
On August 18, it was reported that the bridge over the Seim River in the village of Zvannoye had been destroyed.
If these facilities are destroyed, part of the Glushkovsky district could be cut off from the main Russian forces from the north.
At the same time, the Russian-Ukrainian border is located to the west, and rapidly advancing Ukrainian forces are in the east.
The Russian military could deploy pontoon ferries on the river, but this would involve a serious risk of a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
