The Ukrainian military struck a bridge near the Russian village of Karyzh in the Kursk region.
The Surveillance and Target Acquisition Battery “Khorne Group” of the 116th Mechanized Brigade published footage of the attacks.
The Ukrainian forces presumably used a U.S. HIMARS or M270 rocket system to strike the target.
The bridge has been heavily damaged, but the Russians can install planks allowing light vehicles to cross.
The village of Karyzh is located on the banks of the Seim River, 7 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border, 127 km southwest of Kursk, 12 km northwest of the district center, the urban-type settlement of Glushkovo.
The beginning of the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region in August 2024 caused most residents of Karyzh to be evacuated to Kursk.
A month ago, Ukrainian troops crossed the border and entered Russian territory in the Kursk region.
Currently, they hold over a thousand square kilometers, dozens of villages, and a district center in Sudzha.
Since the second half of August, the Ukrainian army has been conducting an operation to isolate the area near the town of Glushkovo.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying bridges and pontoon crossings over the Seim River, hampering supplies to the Russian troops, sandwiched between this water barrier to the west and north, the Ukrainian border to the south, and advancing Ukrainian forces to the east.
The Ukrainian army destroys the reinforcement convoys of Russian forces heading to the area with air strikes and UAVs.
According to the German newspaper Bild, 2,000 to 3,000 Russian troops could theoretically be surrounded. However, the Ukrainian army is not forcing events in this area; as of early September, it was 10-12 kilometers from the district center of Glushkovo.
