Ukrainian Sich-2-30 Earth remote sensing satellite has been tested and is ready to be sent to the space, reports Militarnyi.
The Ukrainian Sich-2-30 satellite for Earth remote sensing was created by Pivdenne Design Office in Dnipro, passed all the planned tests and will go to the United States in the coming days, said Volodymyr Taftai, the Head of the State Space Agency.
The satellite will be launched by Falcon-9 rocket from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. Almost all American SpaceX launch vehicles start from there. Sich-2-30 will reach the Earth orbit on January 10, 2022.
The satellite will be docked with the launch vehicle and prepared for launch in the United States.
According to Volodymyr Taftai, the Head of the State Space Agency the Sich-2-30 satellite is designated for monitoring of the use of land, vegetation, forest and water resources, and elimination of the consequences of natural disasters. In other words it is a satellite for civilian purposes.
At the same time, the satellite will be able to provide high-quality data on the construction of engineering defensec, redeployment of military equipment and ships, said Mr. Taftai.
In October, the American SpaceX company postponed the launch of its Falcon 9 launch vehicle on which the Ukrainian satellite was to be launched into orbit.
In March, it became known that SpaceX will deliver the Ukrainian remote sensing satellite Sich-2-1 into space for $ 1 million.
In May, Ukraine paid a deposit for the launch of the Sich-2-30 satellite into orbit. Pivdenne Design Office has signed a contract with the European company ISILAUNCH, which contracts SpaceX cargo slots for the delivery of cargo into space. The spacecraft was scheduled to be launched in December 2021.
