The 24th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine seized an advanced Russian infantry fighting vehicle and neutralized its crew.
This was announced in a statement by the Brigade.
The Ukrainian servicemen also obtained Russian RPG-30 hand-held disposable anti-tank grenades.
The vehicle seizing operation was carried out by the soldiers of the 24th ‘King Daniel of Galicia’ Mechanized Brigade in the Luhansk Region.
The BMD-4M infantry fighting vehicle reportedly belonged to the 31st Guards Air Assault Brigade of Russia.
The vehicle was hit, but the servicemen assure that after some repairs, it will perform combat missions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“31st Guards Air Assault Brigade is one of the units that committed atrocities in the Kyiv Region at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. After a cold welcome in the north of our state, this horde arrived in the Luhansk Region,” the statement reads.
It is worth noting that the Russian paratroopers of the 31st Brigade have been fighting against Ukraine since 2014. This brigade suffered losses and some of its soldiers were taken prisoner by the Ukrainian troops in August 2014.
The Russian BMD-4 infantry fighting vehicle is designed to transport personnel of airborne troops. It has been in Russia’s service since 2016.
The Ukrainian servicemen also seized Russian RPG-30 hand-held disposable anti-tank grenades.
RPG-30 has 105 mm caliber. It was designed to counteract all major battle tanks equipped with both dynamic and active protection.
It has an innovative bicaliber design for hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers that uses a target simulator to overcome active protection.
