Air defense of the Ukrainian Ground Forces neutralized the “Shahed-136” kamikaze drone.
An Iranian-made drone was shot down with the Osa surface-to-air missile system.
The military released a video featuring their combat work.
Judging by the voices in the video, the Russian kamikaze drone was spotted by the Ukrainian SAM crew at a distance of almost three kilometers.
In addition to radar detection, the enemy “Shahed-136” was also detected by the visual channel of the Osa SAM.
The air defense system crew continuously monitored and guided the drone.
The Russian loitering munition was shot down a few seconds after being detected: an anti-aircraft guided missile hit it at a range of 2,800 meters.
The crew of the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system observed the destruction of the Shahed-136 kamikaze drone in the air in real-time due to the monitor screen inside the self-propelled launcher.
Osa-AKM is an automated anti-aircraft missile system. It is all-weather capable and designed to cover forces and troops during all types of hostilities.
The air defense system is equipped with six 9М33М3 anti-aircraft guided missiles. The operational range is 1.5 to 10 km, and the altitude engagement envelope is between 10 and 5000 m.
A combat and transloader vehicle is located on a three-dimensional BAZ-5937 chassis equipped with a water cannon for afloat traffic, a powerful running diesel engine, navigation, life support, communication, and a power supply system.
The Iranian Shahed-136 UAV is a loitering munition. The Russians renamed it Geran-2 to hide the UAV’s manufacturing country. The weight of its combat unit is 40 to 50 kilograms. The UAV has a loud MD 550 or 3W engine, thus the kamikaze drone can be heard within kilometers of approaching.
