The Ukrainian Navy’s second Turkish-built ADA-class corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi (F-212) has been launched in Türkiye today.
Clash Report published the photos from the event.
The launching ceremony took place at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul. First Lady Olena Zelenska, Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov, Navy Commander Oleksii Neizhpapa, CEO of Baykar Haluk Bayraktar, and Hero of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev attended the ceremony.
The corvette was named in March 2024. The Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi was solemnly laid down last August at a shipyard in Istanbul.
Due to Turkish traditions, the ship was solemnly laid down only after the construction of some sections and the hull.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, all work on the construction of the vessel is being carried out according to the schedule set out in the agreement.
Due to the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the entire ship will be built in Türkiye.
On May 29, the newest Ukrainian corvette Hetman Ivan Mazepa (F-211) left the RMK Marine shipyard for its first sea trials.
The Ukrainian Ada-class corvettes are armed with a Super Rapid 76-millimeter naval gun manufactured by the Italian company OTO Melara.
A sea version of the Turkish Korkut 35mm anti-aircraft gun from Aselsan is installed above the helicopter hangar.
The company’s other product on Mazepa’s board are STAMP 12.7mm remote-controlled weapon stations, which are installed on the port and starboard sides of the ship.
The F-211 and F-212 are equipped with Thales Sting EO MK2 naval fire control and tracking systems, Aselsan satellite communications systems, ARES-2N electronic warfare systems, and Mk 36 SRBOC decoy launching systems, typical of Ada-class corvettes.
In addition, the corvettes are equipped with the ALPER tactical navigation radar, and a 3D SMART-S MK2 radar is installed to detect air targets.
