Ukrainian Navy began forming crews for Sandown class minehunters delivered by the Great Britain, reports Militarnyi.
The Recruitment Center of the Ukrainian Navy begins the selection of candidates from among the servicemen and conscripts of the reserve for contract military service in the positions of enlisted personel and NCOs on Sandown class minehunters. The ships are scheduled to be transferred to Ukraine from the Royal Navy.
Preference for contract service is given to candidates under the age of 40 with good knowledge of English. However, it is noted that decisions regarding candidates will be made individually, depending on their qualification level.
After the formation the crews will go through a language training course and will be sent to the Great Britain for additional training.
Crews monthly payment will be: enlisted – from UAH 11,200.; NCOs – from UAH 12,000.

Sandown class minehunters
We remind you that the Ukrainian Navy will receive two Sandown-class minehunters, which will be transferred from the Royal Navy. The ships will join the national fleet after “their full audit, overhaul, modernization, additional equipment and appropriate training of the Ukrainian Navy personnel.
The agreement was set out in a Memorandum on the implementation of maritime partnership projects between a consortium of industry of the Great Britain and the Ukrainian Navy. Sandown class minehunters will be delivered for the needs of the national fleet, which were part of the Royal navy in the period from 1989 to 2001.

In London, in November, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko signed a Ukrainian-British framework agreement providing for the construction of eight missile boats, purchase of two minehunters and the construction of two naval bases.
