Ukrainian mortar crews have started receiving mortars equipped with DMS-8 digital sights.
Yurii Moroz, a Ukrainian military, showcased a video of the new sight attached to the mortar on his TikTok account.
According to military sources, the digital sights are integrated directly with the mortars and are not provided separately.
The DMS-8 sight is designed for day and night aiming, with an illuminated aiming grid for enhanced visibility.
It operates on a single battery, offering at least 5 hours of continuous usage.
A CR2032 lithium battery powers the illumination of the sighting grid.
The DMS-8 sight comprises an electronic module connected to an azimuth nozzle with a viewfinder and mounting nozzle.
Claimed characteristics:
The type of ammunition or sight mode is shown on display. It also shows the aiming distance in meters, depending on the type of ammunition and the number of additional propellant charges used.
The integrated ballistic calculator has several pre-set artillery range tables for different types of ammunition.
Recall that in March, it became known that the Russian military uses digital sights called “Bars” for grenade launchers and mortars in the war against Ukraine.
The electronic ballistic computer of the system is much more accurate than analogs because its work is not based on empirical firing tables, but on a mathematical model of projectile flight in an environment that takes into account numerous factors that affect ballistics.
