Ukrainian military conduct remote mining of Russian troops positions with the help of the М270/MARS MLRS.
The Russian military showed German-made DM1399 anti-tank mines near one of their positions in the Donetsk Region.
The invaders also found a canister of cluster munition of these mines, which is equipped in a special AT2 SCATMIN rocket.
The AT2 SCATMIN missile carries 28 DM1399 anti-tank mines.
After launching the rocket, the cluster munitions are opened in the air and mines on parachutes are lowered to the ground.
These missiles are capable with М270 and the German MARS II multiple rocket launchers, which are in service with Ukraine.
The MARS II is actually a licensed copy of the American M270 with minor modifications.
The DM1399 mines are also called AT-2. It comes from the eponymous designation of one of the types of rocket to the MARS MLRS, which is equipped with mines.
The high-explosive DM1399 has a cylindrical shape with a hemispherical top and a flat bottom. The S3 contact fuze is similar to an antenna. It is a thin wire that comes out of the top of the mine.
Five or more metal legs (depending on the model/variant) around the base of the mine decompose and fix the mine in a vertical position.
In addition, the landmine is equipped with a small plastic parachute that weakens the impact when landing from a rocket.
The mine is triggered when the wire fuse stretches along the bottom of the vehicle or when it is under pressure. In addition, the mine also has a magnetic fuse.
