The Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively using US-made anti-tank weapons against armored vehicles of the Russian military.
Due to the top-attack characteristics, Javelin missiles can hit armored vehicles in a turret that is less protected in comparison with the forehead and lateral sides.
After launching, the rocket rises to a height of 160 m and remains at this altitude until it approaches the target at the required distance and falls at an acute angle from above.
Recently, the military demonstrated this mode in the Kherson region.
That time Ukrainian military destroyed a Russian BTR-80 armored personnel carrier from the Javelin.
The video shows the missile of the anti-tank complex rising and then hitting the equipment from above.
The propulsion engine has enough energy for the missile to reach the specified target. However, it completely burns out at a distance of 850 m, which is visible in the published footage.
Ukrainian military also demonstrated the Javelin ATGM in action in the Kharkiv region.
In the released video, fighters of the 92nd Brigade strike a Russian tank from an US anti-tank system.
In this video, the anti-tank missile also rises and then hits the equipment from above.
The first models of missiles had an effective range of about 2 km, which was improved to 2.5 km in further versions.
The missile is capable of flying 4-4.5 km distance, but in this case there is no guarantee of the target hitting.
