Dnipro Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter.
The Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported about this.
“Today, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a unit of the Dnipro Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Air Command East shot down a hostile Ka-52 helicopter,” the report said.
A video capturing damage to the hostile helicopter was also released. It recorded the moment of the Russian helicopter being hit and falling down.
Presumably, the Russian pilots did not have time to eject and died.
As previously reported, in November, the wreckage of a downed Russian Ka-52 helicopter was discovered in the Kherson region.
The helicopter of the Russian Aerospace Forces was likely shot down in September or October but was only now discovered. Near the wreckage, the Russians installed a cross with the inscription: “We will take revenge.”
The Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter is the further development of the Ka-50 helicopter. Ka-52 tests were completed in 2011.
The main advantage of the Ka-52 model is the ability to perform military functions around the clock, regardless of weather conditions. The helicopter is able to identify equipment from a considerable distance and broadcast the information obtained as a result of reconnaissance.
The crew of the attack helicopter consists of 2 people. The flight characteristics of the Ka-52 allow it to develop a speed of up to 300 km/h and reach a static ceiling of 4,000 m.
The armament of the Ka-52 consists of a 30-mm gun and six suspension points that can accommodate 23-mm guns or launchers with anti-tank guided or unguided missiles.
