In the Kursk oblast, the Ukrainian military seized a Russian Volnorez electronic warfare system with documentation.
Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov, who posted a video of this electronic warfare system, said that the system was found in its original packaging.
These systems were first reported in Russian forces last autumn.
They, in fact, create a virtual dome around the object to protect equipment from drones.
Volnorez is mainly installed on Russian tanks.
It is designed specifically to combat FPV drones. The released footage shows that the new electronic warfare system operates in the following bands:
The system is designed as a cone that is attached to the tank’s armor with magnets.
The Russians are keeping the technical details of their product secret, but the captured documents may disclose these specifics.
When it is turned on, the drone is supposed to lose communication with the control station and veer off course, allowing the carrier to avoid being hit.
It is worth noting that the DIY-made FPV strike drones currently used by both sides immediately fall to the ground when the signal is lost, effectively becoming lost.
However, more sophisticated civilian drones, like the Mavic 3 hover in the air in such a situation and can return.
As a reminder, the National Guard of Ukraine recently received a batch of special Novator-2 armored vehicles equipped with electronic warfare systems.
