The Ukrainian military converted a civilian drone with the First Person View function into a strike drone.
The Ukraine Defense social media page reported that an FPV drone platform was used to make a UCAV.
In the released video, a Ukrainian operator sends the drone to enemy positions.
FPV drones are available even in the budget UAV segment.
The drone is controlled not just by the radio control system. It also receives video images via an additional video radio channel in real time.
UCAV operators see the image obtained from the video camera using display devices: monitors, TVs, video goggles, video layers.
Almost any aerial vehicle can be adapted for FPV, from a glider to multi-rotor systems.
An important feature of the FPV carrier is the presence of an on-board transmitter. Often, FPV carriers install an additional power battery that ensures the operation of the on-board FPV complex.
The minimum set consists of a camera associated with a video signal transmitter mounted on a conventional radio-controlled model with a control signal receiver and several controls.
Unmanned aerial vehicles that provide first-person views are inexpensive.
One drone can cost between $200 and $500 on average depending on the components.
The Ukrainian military has already been using loitering ammunition, such as Switchblade 300 and Warmate.
