The ICEYE satellite helped Ukrainian intelligence discover and destroy thousands of pieces of equipment from Russian invaders.

This was reported by the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is noted that this satellite was purchased due to Ukrainians’ donations.

“Ukraine’s defence intelligence began using the “people’s satellite” on September 24, 2022,” the DI said.

Since then, according to intelligence, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have daily received the necessary intelligence data from the space.

During the 5 months of ICEYE use, the Defence Intelligence conducted space radar reconnaissance of almost 1000 Russian units’ location areas in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and other territories of interest to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Intelligence noted that during this time the spacecraft made it possible to identify 360 tents in the locations of the Russian invasion army, as well as 7321 objects of enemy military and special equipment.

In particular, according to the DI, it was found:

• 45 aircraft;
• 27 helicopters;
• 6 Iskander SRBM;
• 36 S-300 SAMs;
• 12 Pantsir-S1 SAMs;
• 11 radars;
• 10 pontoon crossings.

“Thanks to the capabilities of ICEYE, a significant part of this list was destroyed and reflected in the daily reports of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the statement reads.

Ukrainian Defence Intelligence officials thanked the entire Ukrainian society, which has joined in raising funds for the spacecraft, as well as every volunteer who daily provides assistance to the defenders of Ukraine and the Charity Fund of Serhii Prytula.

Recall that last year, volunteer Serhii Prytula announced the purchase of an annual subscription to the satellite data of the Finnish company ICEYE for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the agreement, the Ukrainian side receives both a satellite and access to the database of the constellation of satellites.

After the expiration of the paid access to the database, the satellite still remains fully owned by Ukraine until the end of its functioning in orbit.

The project cost UAH 600 million and, according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, fully justified itself after two days of work.
