The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine has received a Mi-2MSB-1 helicopter designed for evacuation from the frontline.

The arrival of the aircraft has been reported on the official website of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

The helicopter was modernized and equipped with the necessary medical equipment.

For the project implementation, Olena Zelenska Foundation allocated $500,000 of accumulated international funds as part of the Donate to Evacuate initiative from the KSE Foundation and DefDev.

The equipment allows doctors to provide emergency care in the air.

There are on board artificial lung ventilation and heart monitoring devices, a defibrillator, an oxygen inhalation module and an oxygen reducer, and an electric aspirator for airway clearance.

This helicopter was manufactured entirely by a Ukrainian manufacturer. The medical equipment on board is manufactured by the world’s leading manufacturer, Swiss Weinmann, and the navigation equipment is by Garmin.

A pilot of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine with the call sign “Maestro” said that the Mi-2MSB-1 can carry a load of up to 700 kilograms and is capable of landing in very difficult conditions where other vehicles cannot reach.

The helicopter is capable of conducting medical evacuation from areas within range of Russian artillery. Estimated time of arrival at the place of call is 15 minutes after a request.

“Helicopters can reach even the most remote and inaccessible locations that makes them indispensable for rescue operations. Unfortunately, in hard-to-reach places, in areas under constant shelling, people often die not because of life-threatening wounds, but because of the lack of timely qualified medical care. Air evacuation gives these people a chance. Therefore, I would like to thank all donors who helped to purchase the helicopter, and in particular KSE students for initiating the Donate to Evacuate project,” said the paramedic with the call sign “Doc” of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

Depending on the condition of an injured person, the Mi-2MSB-1 can transport three lightly wounded people, one person seriously wounded and two lightly wounded, or one patient in extremely serious condition.

In October 2023, the State Bureau of Investigation handed over a Mi-2MSB-1 helicopter to the Ukrainian military, which the former management of the Motor Sich Joint Stock Company tried to hide from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
