Specialists from Defenсe Intelligence of Ukraine destroyed the Valdai radar at the Dzhankoi air base in Crimea.
On October 20, Ukrainian intelligence conducted a precision operation resulting in the destruction of the Valdai radar complex.
The Valdai complex is designed to detect and counter small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to intelligence, the destruction of this facility at the Dzhankoi airfield reduces the effectiveness of the occupiers’ air defense system in the southern direction.
A video of the operation was posted on the Operational AFU Telegram channel.
The incident was also reported to the Main Risk Management Department.
The Valdai has a three-coordinate X-band radar, optoelectronic tracking modules, a UAV control channel direction-finding module, and the ability to connect electronic warfare equipment.
This system’s minimum target detection range is about 300 meters, and it can exceed 15 kilometers for larger targets.
The operation took place in the evening or at night when the system was likely operational.
“The destruction of systems like Valdai is significant not only operationally, but also symbolically, as this complex is considered one of the most advanced air defense and electronic warfare systems in the Russian army,” say the experts.
The DIU emphasizes that this operation increases the tactical freedom of Ukrainian attack drones and puts additional pressure on the enemy’s air defense system in Crimea.
Earlier, it was reported that another special operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine killed a lieutenant colonel and commander of a Russian Guard special forces group in Russia.
