Ukrainian instructors conducted drone training for the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs in Texas.
The Bureau reported this on its official X account.
According to the agency, participants built and tested drones and exchanged experience on their operational use during the event, which the US Department of State supported.
“This frontline partnership helps U.S. law enforcement stay ahead of cartel and criminal drone use in our hemisphere and protect Americans,” the Bureau shared.
In March, it emerged that the United States in 2025 rejected Ukraine’s offer to help organize efforts to counter Iranian drones.
According to Axios, after the start of the war with Iran, US officials described that decision as one of the biggest mistakes, as Iranian drones had already caused the deaths of several US service members and significant financial losses.
During a closed-door meeting at the White House on August 18, 2025, the Ukrainian delegation presented Donald Trump and his administration with a map of the Middle East, warning about advances in Iranian drones and proposing the creation of “drone counter centers” in Turkey, Jordan, and Gulf countries.
The proposal was structured as a business partnership: Ukraine would provide technology and experience in exchange for investment to expand production and access to US weapons.
The Ukrainian side estimated production capacity at 20 million units, which it said would allow the US to achieve dominance in unmanned systems.
Despite Trump’s instructions to work on the issue, the administration ignored the proposal for an extended period. Some officials viewed Zelensky as “excessively self-promoting” and the idea as unworthy of pursuit.
