The Ukrainian Defense Forces began to actively intercept Russian reconnaissance UAVs using FPV drones.
Volunteer Serhii Sternenko released footage of the Russian Orlan UAV, which was hit by an FPV drone.
The FPV drone was used by operators of the Special Group “Alpha.”
“It was a few weeks ago, but since videos of such interceptions have become public, it is worth showing,” said Sternenko.
In the video, the Ukrainian FPV drone managed to climb above the Russian Orlan reconnaissance UAV. The Russian UAV can climb up to 6 thousand meters.
The FPV drone then approached the wing of the Orlan and exploded. As a result, the reconnaissance UAV of the invaders were damaged and fell to the ground.
Another episode also happened in May in the Bakhmut sector.
A Ukrainian FPV drone with a VTX 2.5W video transmitter caught up and destroyed the ZALA 421-16E reconnaissance drone in flight.
At the same time, the Russian UAV tried to actively maneuver, but was hit in the wing by a FRV drone.
Also a few days ago, soldiers of the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down another ZALA 421-16E drone using an FPV drone.
Interception of drones using other drones is a relatively new and promising direction in the development of air defense.
Not exclusively that the Ukrainian defense and industrial complex is now developing a full-fledged anti-drone system based on FPV drones.
