A Ukrainian anti-aircraft FPV drone has managed to down a Russian Zala Kub multipurpose drone.
A video of the drone’s combat performance was posted by volunteer Serhii Sternenko.
“It could have caused a lot of trouble, so it’s very good that it was destroyed in the sky,” the volunteer said.
The Zala Kub drone is designed to hit remote ground targets.
The drone delivers a special explosive payload according to the target’s coordinates.
It was developed by the Russian “Kalashnikov Concern” and was first presented at the IDEX 2019 international arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
According to the concern, after launch, the drone can barrage in the air, detecting the target, and then attack it from the upper hemisphere with a vertical dive.
This makes it possible, for example, to hit tanks by piercing the top of the towers and hulls that have minimal armor thickness.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine have long been using FPV interceptors to shoot down Russian reconnaissance and attack UAVs.
The characteristics of FPV interceptors allow for reliable interception of enemy drones at the operational level.
Their price per unit typically ranges between $1,600 and $2,500 for drones having daytime and thermal cameras, respectively. They have a maximum speed of 160 km/h, a radius of application of up to 35 km, and a flight time of up to 1 hour.
The wide range of FPV interceptors and market flexibility allows us to maintain an advantage over enemy drones and will help us to respond quickly to future modifications and improvements of Russian drones.
