The Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the Belgorod TPP with HIMARS multiple rocket launchers.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod region, announced this.
Locals recorded at least two strikes on the TPP located on Pivnichno-Donetska Street, as shown in the published video.
They also reported the operation of air defense systems and around 50 explosions were heard in different parts of the city during the attack.
As a result of the shelling, power and water supply disruptions occurred in several areas of the city.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, stated that as a result of the attack, likely from HIMARS, an energy facility was damaged.
Meanwhile, Maksim Demidov, city’s mayor, confirmed the shutdown of a pumping station, leaving part of the residents without heating and electricity.
Currently, the Belgorod TPP supplies thermal energy to the northern and central districts of the city, covering more than 36% of Belgorod’s total heating needs.
The station’s installed electrical capacity is 60 MW, while its thermal capacity reaches 360.4 Gcal/h. The average annual electricity production at the facility is about 395.6 million kWh.
In 2007, the station was significantly modernized, with the construction of a gas turbine unit featuring modern General Electric LM2500+ DLE HSPT power blocks to improve performance.
Prior to that, it operated on coal, but switched to gas in 1958, which remains its primary fuel today. In September 1962, the power plant was integrated into the unified energy system.
It is also important to mention that this is not the first strike on the Belgorod TPP. In September 2025, the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked this thermal power plant, causing a power outage that left half of the city without electricity.
