Russians from the newly deployed 40th Naval Infantry Brigade launched an unsuccessful mechanized assault on Ukrainian Defense Forces positions in the Huliaipole sector.
The 225th Assault Regiment’s press service released footage of the attack being repelled.
According to the military, a Russian tank, an armored fighting vehicle, and two quad bikes carrying troops were advancing along the Malynivka–Zelenyi Hai–Huliaipole route. However, operators of the 414th Birds of Magyar Unmanned Systems Brigade detected them in time.
After that, drones from the 225th Assault Regiment joined in destroying the invaders, along with assets from the 5th Kyiv Assault Brigade and other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
It is reported that as a result of the battle, the Russian equipment was destroyed, and the troops who tried to hide in residential buildings were eliminated.
Overall, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on March 7, there were 12 attacks by Russian forces in the Huliaipole direction, in the areas of Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Myrne, and Zelenе.
Shortly before this assault, the Russian command redeployed several brigades from the Donetsk region to the Huliaipole area in the Zaporizhzhia region. This maneuver was a response to Ukraine reinforcing the front line and a series of counterattacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The 68th Army Corps of Russia’s Eastern Military District, which had previously operated on the Pokrovsk–Dobropillia sector, also returned to the Vostok grouping.
Marine infantry units have also appeared on the southern front, including the 55th Naval Infantry Division, which has not yet been observed in active combat, and the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade (military unit 10103).
