Ukrainian experts will travel to the Middle East to help countries in the region repel attacks by Iranian kamikaze drones — this will not harm Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this.
It is reported that Zelensky held a meeting on the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region, discussing challenges for Ukraine and its partners, as well as opportunities to help protect lives, prevent further escalation of the war, and stabilize global markets.
Ukraine is consulting with partners in Europe and the United States, as well as with Iran’s neighbors. Talks have already been held with the leaders of the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, and Bahrain.
Negotiations with Kuwait and other countries in the region are ahead. According to the President, Iran has already used more than 800 missiles of various types and more than 1,400 attack drones in the past few days.
Zelensky instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with representatives of the intelligence services, the Minister of Defense, the military command, and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, to prepare options for supporting the relevant countries and to determine the format of assistance in such a way that it does not weaken Ukraine’s own defense.
“Ukrainian experts will work on site, and teams are already negotiating this. And we are ready to help protect lives, protect civilians, and support real efforts to stabilize the situation and restore, in particular, safe navigation in the region,” the President said.
On March 2, it was announced that the United Kingdom plans to deploy British and Ukrainian specialists to assist partners in the Middle East.
The Ukrainian military has unique practical experience in countering Iranian kamikaze drones in a full-scale war. London expects that this combat experience will significantly enhance the effectiveness of air threat defense for partner countries.
Later, in an evening address, the President of Ukraine announced his readiness to share Ukraine’s experience in air defense.
The details of the assistance format remain unknown at this time.
This may involve the deployment of mobile air defense groups using anti-aircraft interceptor drones or the dispatch of instructors to train local crews and establish a system for responding to drone attacks.
