Estonian company Milrem Robotics, with the support of the French government, is preparing to transfer six THeMIS tracked drones to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
This was reported in the company’s official press release.
It is noted that the drones will first be delivered to the French company CNIM Systèmes Industriels, which will equip them with engineering equipment.
After retrofitting, the State Emergency Service will receive the finished engineering version — ROCUS (Route Clearance Unmanned Systems).
These drones enable remote detection, identification, and neutralization of a wide range of explosive objects, increasing the safety of sappers during their missions.
“ROCUS will help the State Emergency Service to ensure the safe movement of civilians, protect the environment, revive agriculture in the country, and restore residential areas,” the statement said.
Milrem Robotics notes that six such systems have already been in use in Ukraine since 2022, so their fleet will be doubled.
THeMIS from Milrem Robotics is a multi-purpose tracked vehicle that can be equipped with various systems depending on the task.
The platform has a maximum speed of 25 km/h and is controlled by a remote control. In addition, THeMIS can be programmed to move between specified control points.
The platform has compact dimensions: length — 240 cm, width — 200 cm, and height — 115 cm.
With a curb weight of 1,635 kg, THeMIS has a rated payload of 750 kg and a maximum payload of up to 1,200 kg. This allows the platform to be used for cargo, evacuation, reconnaissance, or combat purposes.
The autonomous operation time is up to 15 hours, and when using only electric drive — up to 1.5 hours. Lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries can be used to power the platform.
