Ukrainian FPV drones hit the 9S932-1 reconnaissance and control module of Russia’s rare Barnaul-T air defense automation system.

Volunteer Serhiy Sternenko published video of the strike.

The mission was carried out by operators of the Sons of Khors unit in the Zaporizhia sector.

According to the OSINT project Oryx, since the start of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have destroyed three Barnaul-T systems and captured four more.

In addition, Ukrainian troops seized a 9S932-2 combat control vehicle from this system as a trophy.

Barnaul-T

The Barnaul-T system conducts reconnaissance of aerial targets, ingests data from combined detection networks, generates trajectories and produces engagement scenarios for air-defense units.

It distributes targets across command echelons, factoring in unit capabilities, disposition, readiness and ammunition availability.

The system can interface with existing air-defense weapons and radar stations, including foreign-made systems.

This integration is intended to maximize the efficiency of heterogeneous air-defense elements and help repel even mass airstrikes.

Barnaul-T has a modular architecture that can be adapted to a specific air-defense grouping and tailored to export-customer requirements.

The system includes planning, reconnaissance and control modules on wheeled and tracked chassis, an automation module for a MANPADS detachment, and a portable fire-control module for MANPADS platoon commanders.
