On the night of November 26, Ukrainian drones struck VNIIR-Progress in the city of Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic.
Exilenova+ Telegram channel published the video of the strike, and Astra also reported the nighttime attack.
This enterprise is a leading manufacturer of electronics for Russian missiles and drones, and in particular produces Kometa antennas.
Local residents reported numerous explosions in the city. Later, Oleg Nikolayev, the head of the region, also confirmed the drone attack.
The plant is located about 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian state border. It is part of the ABS Electro industrial group.
The enterprise produces GNSS receivers and antennas for the Russian military used in satellite systems such as GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo, including Kometa-type modules, which are widely used in drones – including Shahed-type kamikaze UAVs – as well as in missiles of the Iskander-M and Kalibr systems, and in UMPK glide kits for aerial bombs.
VNIIR-Progress also manufactures electrical equipment such as automatic circuit breakers, relays, and contactless modules supplied to the Russian Navy, including for Yasen-M nuclear submarines.
In addition, the enterprise develops hardware–software complexes (HSCs) for shipbuilding, the energy sector, and heavy industry – including SCADA systems, programmable electric drives, and SDR radio systems.
After the June 9 attack, the enterprise had already halted operations. Ukrainian drones then attacked the plant again on July 5, 2025.
The strike drones hit the production workshop where electronic components are manufactured, setting it on fire.
Meanwhile, on the morning of November 26, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have destroyed 33 Ukrainian drones over five regions, but did not mention the Chuvash Republic among them.
The day before, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian aircraft plant and the Molniya UAV manufacturer in the city of Taganrog.
