On the night of April 5, Ukrainian attack drones attacked Promsintez, one of the largest explosives manufacturing plants in Russia.

This was reported by the Astra Telegram channel.

The governor of the Samara region confirmed the attack on an industrial facility in the city where the plant is located.

According to him, a fire broke out at an unnamed enterprise as a result of a drone attack, but there were no casualties.

According to the Russian media outlet Astra, it was Promsintez. This information is also confirmed by Ukrainian sources.

Suspilne, citing sources in the Ukrainian Special Services, thus reported that the plant had been attacked by the drones of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The sources claim that as a result of the drone attack, at least 20 explosions and several fires were recorded at the plant. The plant’s management had to stop technological processes.

“The SBU continues to conduct targeted operations against Russian enterprises that are part of the military-industrial complex and produce weapons for the war against Ukraine. Such facilities are absolutely legitimate military targets,” the source said.

An observer @blinzka from the social network X published low-resolution satellite images confirming the damage to the plant. They show the aftermath of drone strikes on at least three workshops, followed by a fire within the protective bund around the buildings.

Promsintez

Promsintez is located in Chapayevsk, the Samara region. The plant owns 13 workshops on the territory of 190 hectares. It is stated that all production processes are automated, and particularly hazardous operations are carried out without human intervention. In total, the company employs about 1300 people.

The plant produces a wide range of explosives and specializes in the production of charges for the mining industry. However, it also produces TNT, which is directly used in the production of ammunition.

In July 2023, it was reported that an explosion had occurred on the territory of the enterprise, having killed 6 workers. In March, the first drone attack on the facility was reported.

According to Astra, a drone hit the roof of one of the workshops on the territory of the enterprise and caused a fire.
