Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Signal Intelligence Regiment in Sevastopol

On the night of March 19, Ukrainian strike drones targeted a military unit of the 3rd Signal Intelligence Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.

Videos and eyewitness reports circulating on social media, including the Telegram channel Supernova+, indicate that the attack struck the area of the unit.

More broadly, the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea came under a large-scale UAV assault overnight.

The 3rd Signal Intelligence Regiment was formed by Russian forces in 2014 on the basis of the 40th Signal Intelligence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine following the occupation of Crimea.

Footage recorded by local residents shows Russian air defense systems actively engaging targets over the city. Bursts of gunfire can be heard, including from heavy machine guns and possibly other small arms. Corresponding reports were also shared by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.

Additionally, videos recorded by local residents capture the sounds of drones flying overhead followed by subsequent explosions.

However, the extent of the damage and destruction within the territory of the 3rd Signal Intelligence Regiment itself remains unknown at this time.

The occupying authorities have only reported that drone debris fell at various locations, as well as several fires resulting from the attack.

According to the aggressor country’s Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 35 Ukrainian drones over the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea overnight.

The day before, it became known that during the first two weeks of March, the “Ghosts” unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine struck two Russian high-speed landing craft “BK-16” and a number of important targets in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

In particular, they struck the latest Valdai radar system, which is designed to detect and counter small UAVs.

They also disabled the Russian GLONASS navigation system.
