The War&Sanctions website has published a new set of data on foreign components in Russian weapons, including attack drones, which Russia uses to target Ukrainian infrastructure.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine.

It is reported that since the beginning of 2025, experts have recorded significant changes in the design of the Shahed-136, called by the Russians as the Geran-2.

The drones received a new warhead, which now weighs 90 kg. The flight controller, power distribution unit, and battery have been moved from the nose to the tail. Ballast has been added to the drone’s design.

A sticker with markings in Chinese and English was found on the interference-protected 8-channel CRP satellite navigation antenna with a circular arrangement of peripheral patch antennas. The label indicated “Agricultural equipment parts” and included a number suggesting production in 2024.

The manufacturing method and body color of this antenna are similar to Shahed “Ы” series components manufactured in Iran and Russia. The sticker is probably used to conceal the true origin and purpose of the device.

Intelligence reports that Russia is increasingly using Chinese components instead of parts from the U.S., EU, and other countries.

In the new 8-channel Shahed-136 antennas, the Russians replaced the critical XILINX Kintex-7 chip (made in the United States) with an integrated circuit made by Beijing Microelectronics Technology (China).

UAVs manufactured in the Alabuga special economic zone have received a new series – Ъ.

Drones manufactured at the Kupol Electromechanical Plant (Izhevsk) have been updated with the KC series, adding to the previous K and KB series.

In addition to the 8-channel Kometa M8 antennas, Russian strike UAVs have begun using new 12-channel Kometa CRP antennas.

To capture and transmit video of the target’s defeat, Russians use disposable Telegram bots, a Raspberry Pi minicomputer, a webcam, and 3G/LTE modems.

Gerbera drones, which previously served an imitation function, are now equipped with OFBCH-2.5 warheads (produced by the Basalt plant) and KZ-6 engineering charges.

The warhead is activated through a RUICHI SSR-10DD relay connected to the flight controller.

Russia is also setting up production of an analog of the Shahed-238, the Geranium-3. It is equipped with a small-sized Tolou-10/13 turbojet twin-circuit engine, which provides a flight speed of up to 550-600 km/h and a range of up to 2500 km.

Information on foreign technologies that help Russia produce weapons for warfare is regularly updated on the War&Sanctions portal.

The database already contains 4,400 identified components in Russian weapons, 140 types of UAVs and 88 enterprises involved in their production.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine has recalled that there are effective mechanisms in the world to create a “component famine” in the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation. Sanctions, export control, compliance, KYC and CHPL can limit the aggressor’s access to critical technologies.

The competent authorities of different countries, from OFAC to TAXUD, as well as manufacturing companies, journalists and investigators, can play a key role in stopping the supply of components necessary for the production of Russian weapons.
