Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones targeted the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai.
According to the Astra outlet, during the overnight attack on April 6, local residents reported numerous explosions and a fire in the area of the transshipment facility.
According to photos and videos recorded by local residents, the strike hit multiple facilities across the terminal’s territory. NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service detected an abnormal temperature spike at 01:57.
The CyberBoroshno community identified that the attacks struck Berth No. 1 (44.7034804, 37.8358733), where a major fire broke out due to an oil spill, as well as Berth No. 2 (44.7061296, 37.8395406).
In addition, key hub infrastructure was hit, including systems for measuring the quantity and quality of oil, as well as shut-off valves (44.7079664, 37.8457369), which handle commercial metering and precise regulation of oil flows between loading berths.
As the community notes, damage to this infrastructure could effectively halt loading operations.
The Sheskharis oil terminal is a major transshipment facility in the port of Novorossiysk and serves as the final point of main oil pipelines in Krasnodar Krai.
The facility consists of two industrial sites – Sheskharis and Grushovaya, located about 12 km apart and connected by a technological tunnel through the Markotkh Ridge.
According to the EnergyBase directory, the terminal’s designed throughput capacity is 75 million tons per year, the storage capacity is 1.28 million m³, the maximum shipment batch is 250,000 tons, and the loading rate is 15,000 m³ per hour.
It also states that the facility has 10 berths with a total quay length of 2,593 meters.
In 2019, the facility’s operations were estimated to handle a total transshipment volume of over 40 million tons per year.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that in October 2025, 3.22 million tons of oil (about 760,000 barrels per day) were shipped through the port of Novorossiysk, while in March 2026 this figure was around 700,000 barrels per day.
Militarnyi previously reported that on March 2, 2026, a fire broke out at the Sheskharis oil loading terminal in Novorossiysk as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack.
On the night of November 14, 2025, the oil terminal had already been attacked, which also caused a large-scale fire.
