Ukrainian troops destroyed a new Russian Yastreb-AV counter-battery radar system in the Donetsk region.
Aerial reconnaissance men of the 14th Regiment showed a video of combat work on this system.
The system was monitored by a reconnaissance drone, which then adjusted the strikes on the radar.
To destroy the Yastreb-AV radar, the military launched three strikes that hit near the system.
As a result, the counter-battery radar system was disabled, and caught fire.
This is not the first neutralized 1K148 Yastreb-AV in Ukraine.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian military hit the Russian 1К148 Yastreb-AV radar system in the Kherson region. To hit the radar system, the military used an American М142 HIMARS rocket launcher.
The Russian army adopted Yastreb-AV not so long ago: the tests were completed in late 2021 or early 2022.
The fight against enemy artillery has become one of the key tasks in military operations.
Counter-battery radars directly detect a missile or projectile and calculate its trajectory at several points, determining both the location of the enemy’s firing position and the site of the projectile’s fall.
The specifications of the 1К148 Yastreb-AV counter-battery radar system were not made public.
This radar system with phased antenna arrays is able to automatically track the trajectory of shells fired by enemy artillery, determining the exact coordinates of fire positions. The 1К148 Yastreb-AV system is placed on a four-seater BAZ-6910-025 chassis. The rear part of the chassis is allocated for the placement of an antenna post with a large area array.
