The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine demonstrated French Milan-2 anti-tank missile systems in action.
The Ministry released a video showing Ukrainian servicemen using the system.
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine received these portable anti-tank missiles from Europe.
In April, the Ukrainian Defense Force underwent intensive training on the use of Milan-2 ATGM.
The video features ATGM operators from the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians in combat.
The servicemen are shown working from their fighting position in a building, with the anti-tank system mounted on a tripod.
The footage and the final results suggest that the anti-tank system struck the position of either an enemy sniper or a forward observer hiding in the building.
Milan ATGM is in serial production and is currently the main European small range anti-tank weapon.
Milan ATGM was developed based on the requirements of the armed forces of Germany and France. It also meets general requirements of the NATO command. This anti-tank system is in service with the ground forces of 40 countries, including Germany, France, other NATO countries, and now Ukraine.
Mass production of these missiles began in 1984. In 1985 they were first supplied to the armed forces of Germany and France.
The effectiveness of the K-115 missile warhead was improved by changing its diameter from 103 to 115 mm and increasing the distance of the warhead initiation to the target.
The practical use of ATGM showed that its missiles have an extra impacting ability, detonating unburned fuel of the main engine in addition to the warhead.
