Ukrainian defence attaché will visit the Russian-Belarusian military exercises “Allied Resolve – 2022”.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Khrenin agreed this during a phone call, the The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.

On February 14, a phone conversation took place between Minister of Defence of Ukraine and Minister of Defence of Republic of Belarus.

The Ministers discussed an issue of implementation of measures to increase trust and transparency during the exercises near state border, and also exclusion of potential incidents and mutual exchange of information about emergency situations.

“The conversation took place in order to restore the atmosphere of dialogue, reduce the degree of public manifestations and ensure security in the region,” the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine said.

To strengthen mutual trust a visit of the defence attaché of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine to the “Zametil – 2022” exercises has been arranged, as well as a visit of Ukrainian defence attaché in Belarus to Russia-Belarus military exercises “Allied Resolve – 2022”.

The Minister of Defence of Ukraine informed his Belarusian colleague on command and staff exercises “Zametil – 2022” and stressed their defensive nature.

The Ministers agreed to keep in contact to develop neighbourly relations in the defence sphere.

The maneuvers “Allied Resolve – 2022” take place at the Belarusian training grounds Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brest and Osipovichsk, as well as at the airfields of Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi. The official start of the “Allied Resolve – 2022” took place on February 10 and it should end on February 20.

According to the legend of drills, during the maneuvers “Republic of Polesie» (conditional Belarus) and «Northern Federation» (conditional Russia) will oppose «Western» (conditional Europe).

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not name the exact number of Russian forces that were transferred to military exercises in Belarus, however, according to the Telegram channel “Live. Society of Railwaymen of Belarus” there are 200 echelons with military equipment. For example, 29 echelons of Russian troops arrived in Belarus for the military exercises “Zapad-2021”.

In addition to a record number of ground vehicles, Russia has redeployed a record number of aircraft and only Su-25 attack aircraft counted more than 30. Russia also has redeployed Su-35 fighters and S-400 missile system and Iskander-M ballistic missiles to Belarus.
