The Hetman Ivan Mazepa (F-211) corvette, currently under construction for the Ukrainian Navy in Turkey, is undergoing sea acceptance tests.
The video was published by the Ukrainian Navy on Friday, July 5.
The footage shows the corvette-class multi-purpose ship departing from the shore and heading out to sea.
During these tests, the ship’s crew and shipbuilding company, together with contractors, check the operation of all the corvette’s systems. In particular, how the equipment operates in different modes and loads.
It is known that the final acceptance of the ship is carried out during state trials after all components, weapons and technical means, equipment and the ship as a whole have been tested and worked out during factory trials. This may take a long time.
Earlier, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, commander of the Ukrainian Navy, said that the corvette would join the Ukrainian fleet in 2024.
As of early June, according to the ship’s captain, Volodymyr Uglinskyi, the corvette was 70% complete.
According to him, the future flagship of the Ukrainian Navy is being built ahead of schedule.
On May 29, the Hetman Ivan Mazepa corvette left the RMK Marine shipyard for its first sea trials. The published photos show that it is already armed with a 76-millimeter Super Rapid naval artillery system manufactured by the Italian company OTO Melara.
Above the helicopter hangar is a marine version of the Turkish 35-mm Korkut anti-aircraft gun from Aselsan. Other products of the company on board Mazepa are STAMP 12.7-mm remote-controlled guns, which are mounted on the port and starboard sides of the ship.
For air defense, the corvette is to be armed with the MICA VL air defense system. The Murene 90 Impact was considered as the main torpedo.
The Hetman Ivan Mazepa corvette was launched in October 2022. The laying ceremony was held in September 2021, and the hull was assembled at the end of December of the same year.
