Ukrainian company Venator Technologies has introduced a new loitering munition called Flycat, designed with an X-shaped wing layout and an autonomous guidance system that operates during the final phase of flight.
According to the company’s LinkedIn announcement, the drone has an operational range exceeding 45 km and can carry a modular warhead weighing between 2.5 and 3.7 kg. Available warhead options include high-explosive fragmentation, anti-tank, thermobaric, and combined variants.
Flycat can reach speeds of up to 150 km/h and can operate without relying on satellite navigation systems. The drone is launched via a pneumatic catapult, with deployment requiring approximately 20 minutes of preparation.
The developers emphasize that Flycat can autonomously track a target during the terminal phase of flight, even under challenging electronic warfare conditions.
“During the development of Flycat, we focused not only on flight performance, but also on precise and effective guidance during the final phase of flight,” Venator Technologies stated.
